Selecting Geographic Locations
When planning your next corporate event, it's important to consider several factors when selecting geographic locations for your get-together.
Selecting Geographic Locations
There are two parts to choosing a spot for your corporate event. Many people choose to focus on the first – an actual physical site for your dinner, concert or party. This usually means either contracting to rent an indoor or outdoor location, be it a restaurant, arena or park, and making sure that the site will hold the right amount of people and be suitable for your event. You can either do this part of the planning yourself, or you can allow your corporate event planner to do it for you. Either way, finding a site is only half of the battle.
The real issue is selecting geographic locations for your corporate event. For many companies, their events may need to combine an entertainment or party portion along with seminars, meetings and other business tasks. This multipurpose reason for holding a corporate event means that you will need to choose a location that is central to your company or business. Since most companies have more than one office throughout the country, or even the world, selecting geographic locations can be a tough part of the planning.
You generally have a couple of choices before you select where to hold your event. The first choice is whether or not you want to have your corporate event near your company or business headquarters, where ever they may be. This means that if your company is headquartered in Oklahoma, for instance, and you have employees all through the country, they will all travel to Oklahoma for your event. This can work out well, especially if you plan to have several seminars or trainings, and need the backup of your office for these events.
Another choice is to decide on making your corporate event as fun as possible, and pick a spot that doubles as a vacation area. For some companies, this means holding their corporate events (especially those that are more than one day affairs) in places like Florida and California, even though their headquarters may be elsewhere. The benefit to holding your corporate event in one of these spots is that more people are likely to attend, because they can bring their families and combine their business and vacation trips.
Selecting geographic locations for your corporate events can be a tough choice, but if you take the time to consider all of the pros and cons of each place, you can usually come up with a location that will please everyone.
