What is team building? Team building is generally defined as the process of creating teams within a work environment. In this context, teams aren't generally seen in the same way as sports teams, or even as competitive teams in other aspects of life. Instead, they are groups of people that are used within a process known as organizational development, which help to strengthen the way that people work and behave within a company or organization.
Still, this is a rather abstract way of defining what is team building. There are two main factors that must be considered when going about the process of team building – the first of which is that everyone has to understand that there is a common goal for everyone on the team, where everyone has shared responsibility. The second factor is that everyone has to understand the goal, and they all have to be committed to that goal. If these two main factors are met within the team building exercises, a successful team will have been built.
